As a Buffalo Personal Trainer, I often get up at about 4:30 a.m. so I can be at my Fitness Studio at 5:30 a.m. to train my first client. Every minute is precious, so I don't eat a sit down breakfast. I make myself a shake the night before or more often than not, my wife is kind of enough to make a shake for me. I want to be healthy, so I'm careful with what I put into my body. Here's is my current simple, quick, healthy, delicious, complete, and nutrient dense shake recipe:
The Buckwheat and the Sweet Potato are great slow digesting carbohydrates that will give me fuel for an extended time. The fruit of my choice is where I'm getting my fast digesting carbohydrates (sugars) from. The 2 most important times of the day that I need this sugar is when I first wake up in the morning to break my fast and after I work out. I'm getting plenty of protein, a good healthy fat in an appropriate amount, and a green leafy organic vegetable too. The cinnamon adds great flavor and is good for your blood sugar regulation among other things. I'm getting some water in and the Rice or Almond milk serves as primarily a dairy alternative. This makes about 64 ounces of a delicious, balanced shake that serves as a complete meal replacement. I usually drink about 20 ounces on my drive down the 33 into Buffalo and drink the rest throughout the day. I keep my shake in a cooler with an ice block. This comes in handy if I happen to be out and about or have a lot of off-site meetings because I can easily bring it with me. As you know many times, it's challenging to eat healthy when you're out.
